K-PAX, Kevin Spacey, Planet K-PAX, Video, Movie, Intelligent life visits Earth, VSL, Variable speed of light

K-Pax is one of my favorite movies. It stars Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges. Spacey does a superb job of portraying a visitor from planet K-PAX. The movie is extremely thought provoking and certainly raises doubt about intelligent life on Earth.

I saw K-PAX at the movie theatre when it first came out circa 2002. Aside from the interesting interactions between Spacey and humans, the movie questions, in a subtle manner, accepted human activities such as marriage and doctor patient relationships as well as slaughtering animals and consuming meat. In the science area it challenges the long held assumption that travel faster than the speed of  light is not possible. I have believed for many years that travel faster than the accepted speed of light is possible. Albert Einstein, though a brilliant scientist, was not God and his theories not gospel.

I read a book on VSL, Variable Speed of Light a few years ago. Do some research on this subject. It will amaze you. And if you have not seen K-PAX, get a copy and view it. It is well worth watching. Perhaps there is real intelligent life on other planets.

Ok Earth scientists, do you want to know why the space aliens are not revealing themselves to you?

“A team of UK researchers claims to have new evidence that global warming is melting the ice in Antarctica faster than had previously been thought.

Icecaps around the North and South Poles are melting faster than expected, raising sea levels as a result of climate change, a major scientific survey has shown.”

“He apparently didn’t read this paper from last Autumn’s AGU Meeting”

“But glaciologists reported at the American Geophysical Union meeting that Greenland ice’s Armageddon has come to an end.”

“One has to wonder if some scientists are lacking access to the Internet, as the amount of polar sea ice on the planet is above the 30 year mean.”

“Yesterday, NSIDC announced that “Arctic sea ice extent at the end of April 2009 was within the expected range of natural variability.”  and “The decline rate for the month of April was the third slowest on record“”

“Also, the claim of Polar Bear endangerment is based largely on the idea that the ice is supposedly breaking up earlier than it used to in the spring.  The “third slowest melt on record” would hardly support that popular claim.”

University at Albany, New York, climate change data, global warming, Professor Wei-Chyung Wang, Climate Science Fraud at Albany University?

This global warming crowd is going to keep me busy.

You know you have a problem when the “poster child” for global warming is Al Gore.

“Climate Science Fraud at Albany University?“

“Professor Wei-Chyung Wang is a star scientist in the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center at the University at Albany, New York. He is a key player in the climate change debate (see his self-description here). Wang has been accused of scientific fraud.

I have no inclination to “weigh in” on the topic of climate change. However the case involves issues of integrity that are at the very core of proper science. These issues are the same whether they are raised in a pharmaceutical clinical trial, in a basic science laboratory, by a climate change “denialist” or a “warmist”. The case involves the hiding of data, access to data, and the proper description of “method” in science.

The case is also of interest because it provides yet another example of how *not* to create trust in a scientific misconduct investigation. It adds to the litany of cases suggesting that Universities cannot be allowed to investigate misconduct of their own star academics. The University response has so far been incoherent on its face.

Doug Keenan, the mathematician who raised the case of Wang is on the “sceptic” side of the climate change debate. He maintains that “almost by itself, the withholding of their raw data by [climate] scientists tells us that they are not scientists”.

Below is my own summary of the straightforward substance of this case. I wrote to Wei-Chyung Wang, to Lynn Videka (VP at Albany, responsible for the investigation), and to John H. Reilly (a lawyer at Albany) asking for any correction or comments on the details presented below. My request was acknowledged prior to publication, but no factual correction was suggested.”

““Investigations” of scientific misconduct should themselves align with the usual principles of scientific discourse (open discussion, honesty, transparency of method, public disclosure of evidence, open public analysis and public discussion and reasoning underlying any conclusion). This was not the case at the University at Albany. When you see universities reluctant to investigate things properly, it provides reasonable evidence that they really don’t want to investigate things properly. ”

Antarctic ice melting, Antarctic ice spreading, Global warming myths, Antarctica is brutally cold

Anyone with an IQ greater than that of a squirrel who has gotten off their lazy butt and done some research,
already knows that there is not a huge problem with ice melting in Antarctica. Let’s start with this
simple premise.

The melting point of ice is 32 degrees fahrenheit.

So, how cold is it in Antarctica?

Damn cold.

How do I know?

I did some research and found out.

Here is a classic tale of global warming mythology and misinformation

“Last weeks’ top Antarctic AGW story was :

Antarctic ice melting faster than expected

due to CO2, of course.

This week the #1 story is :

Antarctic ice spreading
but the increase in size is due to “stratospheric ozone depletion” which is of course also caused by man-made gases.

So Antarctic ice is disappearing faster than expected due to man, and it is also expanding in size due to man.  Meanwhile, the early autumn temperature in Vostok, Antarctica is a toasty -95F, a nice warm up from the -104F temperatures earlier this week.

Oh, and one minor problem with the ozone hole theory  ”The ozone hole occurs during the Antarctic spring, from September to early December” – but the positive ice anomaly occurred during the autumn and winter (March through July) as represented by the red line below. ”

Catlin Arctic Ice Survey, Global warming, Bad science, Environmental zealots, NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, Gullible scientists

Here is another example of bad science and misinformation from the global warming crowd.
“Catlin Arctic Ice Survey: paid advertising of results before they are even off the ice!”

“I double checked what Rick K reported, and yes, they are running this ad. Either they just don’t care that they are running ads for “results” prior to any hard data being published or this is some sort of advertising scheduling slipup. Given how sloppy this laughable facade of a scientific expedition has been so far, publishing “live” biometric readings that were actually 30 days old, I’m guessing the latter.”

“The link simply goes to their main website, I’m betting though that there is some sort of “results” page that it was supposed to be linked to. And what sort of advice could some Arctic ice trekkers possibly give me about my business related to “global warming” anyway? The absurdity of such advertised advice  is mind boggling.

This is what happens when you mix the following ingredients:

1) An insurance company (Catlin)

2) Environmental zealots willing to stage an expedition in exchange for money on the premise that “science will be done”(Pen Hadow et al)

3) Gullible celebrity sponsors (Charles, Prince of Wales)

4) Gullible real scientists, like Ron Kwok of NASA Jet Propulsion Lab who was lured into making statements like this one, proudly displayed on their web site:”

“Tell me, Dr. Kwok, just how will Catlin Arctic Survey tell me how soon “global warming will affect my business’?

A better question might be, “how soon will your association with these people ruin your career”? Do you already have the results of the data analysis ready to go with the advertising campaign?”

Global warming, AOL, Fear mongering, Lies, Misinformation, Might, Could, Follow the money

I saw this on AOL yesterday and it is typical of the fear mongering used to sell “product”, that is air time and advertising or in the case of “scientists”, government grants. It is our job to be informed citizens and seek the truth. A better source of the truth about climate change and the truth about global warming is Watts up with that.

“To deny objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies.” This is how Congress can restrict access to national energy sources – oil, natural gas, and coal – while claiming it wants the U.S. to be “energy independent.”

Global warming, Lies, Bad science, Ignorance, Grants, Al Gore, Liberal agendas, Truth about Global Warming

Most people in civilized countries with economies that allow the luxury, are concerned about the
environment. We want clean air and water for ourselves and our descendants.

I do not have the time at the moment to write this, but I felt compelled to do so after reading
another fine, scientific based article, from the Watts up with that blog. I discovered this blog
over a year ago and was impressed because the blog owner, Anthony Watts, has a meteorological
background and applies solid scientific principles and facts to his articles.

If there is a better example of no intelligent life on Earth, I would be hard pressed to
find it.

Global Warming

Just the fact that the high priest of Global Warming is Al Gore, a man that did not even carry
his home state in the presidential election speaks volumes.

What bothers me (and I have a strong math/science background) and many others is that so many
people buy in to a theory that is not based on solid science and then they all pass this
misinformation along and share it with their fellow sheep as if it is the gospel truth. Of
course this fits in nicely with getting government grants to placate Gore and his wacky
agenda followers.

So enough ranting from me. Read the following articles, check out the Watts up with that blog
and start asking some serious questions. And for God’s sake, let’s all do what we can and
should do to keep planet Earth clean.

Revealed: Antarctic ice growing, not shrinking

New Milepost for Arctic Sea Ice Extent

I knew about the next story and I have been watching the National Geographic folks misrepresent many
stories over the past years. Could this have anything to do with money?

“Those masters of disaster are at it again, and it appears our friendly scientists at that National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) help this story along each year.

It seems that not only is the photography recycled, so is the storyline. It seems to happen every year, about this time. Note the photos show shear failure and cracks, not melted ice. Shear failure is mostly mechanical-stress related, though ice does tend to be more brittle at colder temperatures.

National Geographic reported this story headline last year, March 25th 2008”
